Full Details

This former village Inn has been transformed into a beautiful family home offering huge space both inside and out and completed to a great standard. Being Grade II listed has protected the character and charm of this property but with a sympathetic renovation and a great vision, the house has been updated for modern living by the current owners. The entire property can be used as a large, 5 bedroom family home or, as it’s currently used, as a family home AND a popular holiday let on the side. Of course, the cottage doesn’t have to be let out - it’s truly versatile. A central entrance gives separate doors to both the main house and the holiday cottage but they are linked on the first floor via a lockable door. This also gives huge options to allow the holiday cottage to have 1, 2 or even 3 bedrooms but it’s been hugely successful as a 1 bedroom retreat.

The Holiday Cottage (The Stables)

Successfully run via Airbnb, The Stables has rarely been available due to demand. It’s a high quality retreat with it’s own access, living room with wood burner, lovely modern kitchen and a garden room opening onto a patio. Upstairs is a double bedroom with exposed beams and a shower room. Potential to bring in over £15,000 a year, this is an excellent proposition to run a business from home. Check out The Stables via Instagram @thestablesdevon, or see the amazing reviews on Airbnb and the website (links attached). Depending on the plans by the new owner arrangements can be made to purchase the furniture and transfer the bookings and websites etc to a new owner making it ready made to start earning!

The Main House

With large light rooms, full of character and stories of the past, the former Inn would definitely have some tales to tell. A large living room houses a beautiful inglenook fireplace with wood burner, whilst the kitchen has a modern take on the traditional adding a central breakfast bar, ideal for social occasions. There’s a utility room and a ground floor office with it’s own entrance making it perfect if working from home. Two staircases link to the first floor where the 4 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms are well presented and spacious. It’s worth noting that due to the two staircases, all bedrooms can be used privately without the need to go through another (see floorplan). There’s also a large cellar which is currently used for storage and is a very useful space with electricity and lighting.

Outside, The Stables has use of part of the patio and the remainder is utilised by the main house. There’s a workshop, timber sheds and plenty of scope to create a wonderful garden. There is a large, useful porch storage room which houses substantial racking, kit and bike storage. The driveway also comes in from Water Lane, giving a gated entrance and off-road parking for numerous cars – See Land Plan. It’s a surprising area in total and well worth a look.

In summary, a wonderful family home with adjoining cottage to generate additional income on your doorstep, it’s a great property inside and out, however you may choose to use it.

DIRECTIONS: From Crediton High Street, head west towards Copplestone. Go through Copplestone, bearing left at the traffic lights and proceed up the hill towards Bow. BOW is a hilltop village on the River Yeo. It sits at the edge of an expansive, wild piece of country, bordered by wind-swept fields of wheat, shadowed by Dartmoor in the distance. It shares a church and common history with the nearby hamlet of Nymet Tracey. ‘Nymet’ means Sacred Grove in Celtic and to the west of Bow is a 3rdmillennium BC woodhenge, once a place of spiritual significance for Pagan worshippers in the area. Modern Bow is a peaceful, family-friendly village with a rustic country pub, a popular primary school and a Cooperative mini supermarket – an idyllic country escape.
