Originally built as a local authority home, this 2 bedroom semi-detached house has undergone significant improvements including the “bricking up” of the original house which was done by the local authority prior to it being purchased so all the necessary certificates are in place and is fully mortgageable.
The house is as one would expect with a hallway leading to the living room and kitchen/dining room plus the owners have built on a useful porch at the rear. Worth noting is the outlook from the kitchen over the rear garden. There is a multi-fuel burner in the kitchen which runs the radiators around the house and appliances aren’t included but could be available by separate negotiation if desired. On the first floor are 2 double bedrooms and a lovely bathroom.
Outside, a couple of steps lead to the front garden, mainly graveled and ideal for pots plus a wide paved path to the front door. A pathway to the side (shared with neighbour) leads to the rear garden which is fenced and gated from the path and there’s a garden shed plus a block built store with power. The remaining garden is mainly lawned with paved patio and is fenced with a hedge at the top. Overall the garden extends to approx. 8m x 18m so it’s a lovely garden to enjoy.
The house was purchased from the council a few years ago and has been offered back to them as part of the conditions of sale. They have confirmed that they do not want to buy it back, so it’s fully available on the open market.
There is a condition of sale that the property can only be sold to someone who has (within the last 3 years) had their place of work or had their only or principle residence within this area or such an area. Please make enquiries with your legal advisor but on similar sales, “this area” has meant within Devon.

MORCHARD BISHOP is a village and civil parish set in the sumptuous hills and valleys of Mid-Devon, halfway between the North and South of the County, 7 miles west of Crediton and 14 miles from the regional capital, Exeter. The showpiece is the spectacular 16th Century Church of St Mary's, one of two churches in the village. This small but thriving community, with a population of just under 1000 has a primary school, doctor's surgery and local shops. Those who lead an active lifestyle can take advantage of the football, netball and outdoor tennis clubs as well as enjoying a game of bowls on the Green. At the centre is the friendly London Inn, loved for its generous servings of delicious, locally sourced food. Dating back 400 years, this traditional pub was once a stop for passing coaches when the main road from Exeter ran through the village. Today, the nearby railway station at Morchard Road carries passengers from Exeter to Barnstaple along the scenic Tarka Line. Dartmoor and Exmoor, areas of outstanding natural beauty are within 30 minutes' drive.
