Full Details

Silverton is a pretty village in the Exe Valley with excellent connections to Exeter for amenities and transport links plus Tiverton parkway and the M5 (J27) are a short drive away. Prispen House is a small and select development of just 15 properties which enjoy a village edge position and have the extra bonus of being situated in 3 acres of beautifully well-kept garden. Being a gated development, there is both privacy and a sense of community, and this makes it an ideal permanent home or indeed as a country retreat or holiday home. The communal grounds are incredibly well kept and there to be enjoyed by the residents and guests of Prispen House.

The property for sale is a mid-terraced town house with generous space over 3 floors. The accommodation is very well presented and an entrance hall on the ground floor gives access to a useful utility room, the 4th bedroom/study with a shower room, and an internal door to the integral garage. On the first floor is a kitchen/dining room which overlooks the central courtyard and the living room with dual windows takes in the views (and sunsets) over the gardens. On the second floor are 3 further bedrooms and a family bathroom with the master having a luxurious en-suite shower. The bathrooms have all been recently refitted to a high standard.

As previously mentioned, the property has its own garage plus driveway parking. There are some visitors parking spaces, but these are strictly for visitors and guests only and must not be used by residents.
The grounds are sure to be a real attraction for many and from the moment you drive in through the locked gates, the driveways and gardens are very well kept (and all the costs are covered within the annual charge) meaning there is little to worry about except enjoy. The grounds extend to approx. 3 acres of lawns and with an abundance of mature hedges, trees and various seating areas. There is the opportunity to utilitise this space as much or as little as one would desire, all without having to lift a finger to mow or trim anything. That said, there is still opportunity for those with green fingers to get involved!

SILVERTON is a large village and parish, one of the oldest in Devon – dating back to the first years of the Saxon occupation. Its location is ideal for commuting to Exeter (8 miles south) and for speedy access to the M5 at Cullompton 5 miles away. The church, in honour of ‘St Mary’ is a striking building, with a full set of bells, often heard ringing out. The centrepiece of Silverton is a regal and gnarled oak tree more than 1000 years old. There are two inns, ‘The Lamb’ and ‘the Silverton Inn’ – both do hearty pub lunches, and pull popular pints of ale, cider and beer. The shop is a ‘Spar’ mini-mart/ post office and there is the acclaimed Exe Valley Farm Shop with cafe and butchers only minutes away. There is also a hairdresser, for those wanting to spruce up their locks. Annually, Silverton hosts a vibrant street market, in deep summer, with a spectacular spread of local produce, arts and crafts and games for the kids – no childhood is complete without tiger face paint! The C of E primary school is a good one too, with the Ofsted report to prove it. 5 minutes drive down the road (past Ellerhayes) is Killerton house and gardens, an 18th Century manor, reminiscent of something from a Brontë novel. Owned by the National Trust - it has been immaculately kept, and inside features elegant displays of period costumes. Furthermore, the surrounding estate, of secret pathways and mottled woodland glades is a magical place to take a stroll.
